Happy Birthday Padiwan Tyler

February 3rd, 2010 by mariahbuck

I don’t know where the time has gone!  Can it be that my baby, my 1st born son, is 4 years old ALREADY? Sadly, it is true. Tyler has been counting down to his birthday. I think he started with 20 days till his big day. His day started as it usually does, before the sun comes up. My sweet little man came into mommy and daddy’s room during the six o’clock hour. Shaun called him over to his side of the bed. However, Tyler announced that he just wanted mama. Through my sleepy eyes, I smiled a happy little smile. You see, Tyler is a Daddy’s boy through and through. He does nothing to hide that fact. He will proudly tell mommy, or anyone else who asks, that he is Daddy’s boy. No bribe, no tickling, no nothing can change his mind about that!!

So when Tyler turned Daddy down to come and snuggle with Mama, it didn’t matter to me that the sun had not yet risen, or that I had just been up nursing Jeremiah 30 minutes ago. My birthday boy wanted his Mommy, and I was more than happy to oblige! We turned on cartoons and snuggled until almost 8:30. I admit that I dozed off here and there. But nothing got past the birthday boy. If he saw Mommy’s eyes closed he “lovingly” poked me in the cheeks until I woke up.

Due to a family emergency, Grandma Kitty flew in the night before Tyler’s birthday. Tyler was sure that Grandma Kitty was there JUST for his birthday. It was nice to have her and that she could be with us to celebrate Tyler’s birthday morning!

For his birthday breakfast he chose “chocolate cereal that had the thing with the things.” It took some phone calls to figure this one out. He had seen Coco Pebbles at his cousins house and that was what he wanted. So that is what he had. For lunch he chose macaroni and cheese with hot dogs. This is his all time favorite meal. And for dinner it was Chuck E Cheese.

In preparing my shopping list for his birthday meals, I asked him what kind of birthday cake he wanted. Here is how the conversation went:

Mommy: “Ty, what kind of birthday cake do you want?”

Tyler: “Kickaboog Cake, Mommy.”

Mommy: “I have never heard of Kickaboog Cake before. What is it?”

Tyler: “Want me to help you say it mama?” Repeat after me and say it slow. Kick-a-boog

Mommy: “Kick-a-boog.”

Tyler: “Great, now say it fast. Kickaboog.”

Mommy: “Kickaboog.”

Tyler: “I’m so proud of you mom. Great job.”

Mommy: “Now I know how to say it Ty. But what is kickaboog cake?”

Tyler: “Well, it is cake with chocolate frosting, cookie dirt and worms all over it.” OH! And it has birthday candles too!”

Mommy: “Ok, kickaboog cake it is!”

He is so funny!  So after Chuck E Cheese, we had kickaboog birthday cake and cookies and cream ice cream for dessert. He had a blast!  His big present from Mommy, Daddy, Brandon and Jeremiah was that he got his bedroom changed from a Cars bedroom to a Star Wars bedroom. He has really been into Star Wars! As he opened his presents and jumped on his new bed, he hummed the theme song to Star Wars.

Unfortunatly, in his excitement, I could not get him to hold still for a picture. In case you can’t tell, the blur jumping up and down on the bed is him ;)

He told me that night as he was going to bed, that he got bigger muscles and he got taller since he was 4. He said that he thought he was going to turn into a Jedi Knight too, but he was still just a Padiwan. *Maybe next year son* :)

It is so incredible to be blessed by this little boy. He dreams big. He plays hard. And he is a huge blessing to his family.

Tyler,

Your Daddy, Brothers and I love you more than words can say. You are a blessing to us. You are the best Padiwan I have ever known! You love your big brother Brandon so much and want to be just like him. And you are a great big brother to Jeremiah. You give great hugs. I love to kiss your little lips too, (even if you wipe it off when you think I’m not looking.) You are a great friend to children around you and you always try to make sure no one is left out. You love to sing and to dance. You are a great big ham who loves to make everyone laugh. You have your own language with made-up words that you will lovingly explain to “the rest of us.” You love use the words “booty, tootie, stinky and “I’m gonna whoop you,” as much as you can. You are such a silly little guy!!! My prayer for you this coming year is that you would grow to know and understand the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ more. I pray that He would keep you and protect you. I pray that you would come to a saving faith early and that God would use you to shine His light brightly for others to see.

I love you so much Sunshine! Happy 4th Birthday!
