Today was one of those days for me. I have not been feeling well for the past few days. I think I have had the stomach flu or something. Anyway, I received an email reminder that our homeschool co-op was having their used curriculum book sale. This is a big fundraiser for our group. So I pulled it together, showered and Tyler and I went. The sale was held in the gymnasium. It felt as though it has been relocated to the surface of the sun. It was soooo hot in there that I felt even more nauseas than I already was. To top it off, Tyler was being really naughty. He was throwing tantrum after tantrum. I think that he could sense my weakness and he was going in for the kill.
In one of his lighting fast escape tricks, he ran straight for the baked goods and grabbed two pieces of fudge before I could catch him. They were 50 cents each. The thing that really stunk about it was that I didn’t feel well enough to eat even a single bite. So that little stinker ended up getting them both. Grrr!
By the time we took one lap around the gym, Tyler had 2 pieces of fudge, we went potty twice and someone has given him a firetruck. At least HE had a good time. We headed to the car. Again a fight. What can I expect? If I was rewarded with delicious chocolate and a new toy when I threw a fit, I would try more often. Anyway, on the way home I called Shaun to wine about my hard morning. He could sense my lack of patience. When I got home, Shaun took over with Tyler.
I made lunch and Tyler said “Mommy is angry.” He can sure call it like he see’s it! Talk about a knife to the heart. And when I looked over at that sweet little face, I felt the knife shoved in further. I had to ask my sweet baby boy for forgiveness for being angry. What was his response to me asking for his forgiveness? “Mommy, can I have some yellow cheese?” Is that all you want son? Sure! I think I got off easy. If he was a little bigger, he probably would have known to aim a little higher in his request.. Ice cream, cookies, a new video game, thankfully cheese was all it took.
After nap time, Tyler and I went to the water splash park near our house. He played in the water and had a great time. I took extra care to show my love and that mommy was not mad. I think he forgot about that long ago, maybe bite #2 of the yellow cheese? But I still felt the pain from the knife in my heart. We had fun together!
Parenting is such a hard job! It is so hard not to loose your patience sometimes. God certainly uses my kids to bring my faults right to the surface. They seem to, most of the time without knowing, call it like they see it. BAM! Right in your face! -Mom, you were a jerk and you are not living out what the God’s word says about wrath.. “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath..” Psalm 37:8 Well, you are right kids.. I need your forgiveness and God’s. One day I will be perfected, but today is not the day. I will just have to keep plugging away!

Ty is all boy! He loves dirts and rocks and bugs. Cars, tucks, tractors too! If it has wheels, is dirty or has a “gross” factor, it is right up his alley! Here are some fun pictures of him examining a big “buggie.”

When you eat spaghetti, you have to be as messy as possible, right??!!

Being the mom of boys is so much fun! It has challenged me to re-think what it means to have fun. I am loving every second of it!!

Cuzzie time is a precious thing to us! For those of you who don’t know - a cuzzie is a cousin (named by Tyler) Anyway, many times we think of cuzzie time as the big kids together or all of them as a group. But today, I got the privilege of experiencing cuzzie time with the babies. (minus Jessica)

I picked up Jonah and Jamesyn this morning and Tyler and I took them to “Old McDonalds.” (Named by Jonah) They got to play on the playground and have cheeseburgers, fries and soda. They were so cute together! I am so thankful that God has our families together again so that the baby cuzzies can experience some of the fun moments that the big cuzzies go to back in Ca.

Soon Brandon will be home again and it will be cuzzie time all the time!

14 days and counting!!!!!

Yesterday Shaun and I got to take Tyler for a really fun BOY experience. Lately Tyler has been watching a cartoon we found called Bigfoot Presents, Meteor and the Monster Trucks. It is a really cute cartoon about monster trucks. Tyler loves it so much!
Anyway, I heard on the radio that Bigfoot was going to be in town for some car smashing at the local tire repair shop. Shaun and I decided to take Tyler. It was only later that I realized it was the “same” Bigfoot from the cartoon!

Tyler loved seeing Bigfoot! The truck was so huge! It was really loud when he did the car smashing. Tyler was both scared of the loud noise and fascinated at the same time. Bigfoot Smashed 3 poor little cars. He ran over them again and again.

After it was over, the driver of Bigfoot came out for autographs. We got Tyler 2 autographed pictures for his Cars bedroom. On the way home, I sat reflecting on the Monster Truck experience.. As a girl, there is NOTHING interesting about monster trucks! But as a mom of a little boy - there couldn’t have been anything cooler than me and my baby boy cheering on Bigfoot as he demolished 3 cars. What an experience! I love having Boys!
