The brand new fire station had their grand opening ceremony and invited the community. The boys and I went to check it out. The ceremony portion of the day was quite a bit longer than I expected. I found all the information about the history of Meridian and it’s fire stations very interesting. Brandon and Tyler did not. Since we are potty training Tyler, I had to take him potty 5 times during the 25 minute ceremony. I think he just wanted to get out of there and check things out. Both the boys had much more fun when it was time to see the trucks and tour the station.

Well, our Cousins Camp has come to an end. The Bucksey kids all had a great time! Tasha brought all 6 of the kids over yesterday about 3:45. The 3 babies stayed until 7:45ish. I loved that part because then the babies got to participate too! Then Tasha brought the babies back over today from about 3:45 - 6:30. The big kids spent the night in a tent in the back yard. (Brandon’s 1st time ever sleeping in a tent outside) They had to try to put up the tent themselves and not use any directions. They tried for about 40 minutes. They got the tent up all the way, but once they let the poles go, it collapsed. So we drug out the instructions and they put it up.

They roasted marshmallows and made smores. They played all sorts of games that I had for them. It was about 90 degrees today so there was a lot of water play too! They played the Wii and just had a lot of great conversation together. They even braved the heat to jump on the trampoline. I have enjoyed having all of them and I am very, very tired! (in a good way)

I don’t know why they all look like they are on fire in the above picture. I promise there were no children burned in the making of this photo.

Last weekend we celebrated Fathers Day with one of the greatest dads I know.. My husband. The boys mad him a hand print board and Brandon picked out a back scratcher for his daddy. The funny thing about the hand print board is that it inadvertently idolizes Shaun over Christ. Talk about your goof ups! Here is how it happened: The boys and I went to the Craft Wherehouse to get some idea of something to make for their Daddy for Fathers Day. We saw a really cool picture with some vinyl lettering on the top. Instead of paying for a pre-made gift, Brandon and I thought it would be cool to make it ourself. So that’s is what we did.
We bought a plain square board and painted it white. Then the boys stamped their hand prints in their favorite colors. Brandon’s print is red and Tyler’s yellow. Then I bought vinyl lettering from a gal I know. It says:
The greatest gift we ever had
was a gift from God,
we call him Dad.
It came out really cool! Shaun loved it but quietly reminded me if the implications of what was written. Effectively, the greatest gift we ever had was the gift if Christ’s sacrifice on the cross - not Shaun Buck (Dad). DUH! I guess I didn’t really think that one out!
Brandon had the idea of penciling in except for Jesus on the board. I think we’ll leave it how it is, knowing that Dad is in no way an idol in this household.
Thank God for his forgiveness for my thoughtlessness. The Bible says that I am “beautifully and wonderfully made.” That means He made me just the way I am - absentminded. He,he.
Anyway, the boys and I are so thankful for their daddy! He is thoughtful, fun and kind. He almost always has a song to sing, a joke to tell, or a silly thing to say. He brings joy and laughter to our home each and every day! Shaun works very hard for our family! He has so many wonderful qualities of a great father and husband. The boys and I are thankful to God for choosing this man as the head of our family!
What Makes A Dad
God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it … Dad

Happy Fathers Day to the love of my life. We love you and we honor you! Thank you for being the daddy to our children.

The other night Brandon and I were out in the front yard enjoying a beautiful sunset. Brandon decided that he wanted to be interviewed about why he likes Idaho. Here is what I got:

Tyler was playing with his cars yesterday and he was so cute. He was pretending that his chocolate milk ba-ba was attacking his cars. You gotta watch.
In the middle of the movie he is saying - “Oh no ba-ba! No, no ba-ba.”
At the end when he knocks over the baba, he says - “I got ba-ba.”

If I had an unlimited amount of time and money to do anything that I wanted - for my own pleasure, it would be to be a photographer. Not the professional kind, just on my own for fun. I love to take pictures of nature and of my kids and family. I would but myself a super expensive camera and go on trips with the sole purpose of taking pictures. Oh what fun it would be. Since I am sure that would never happen - here is some more attempts at fulfilling my dream with my digital camera:
This is out in our front yard, overlooking the neighborhood at sunset.
This is a rose from my front yard.

In keeping with my normal pattern lately of physical ailments.. I have either broken or seriously sprained my hand.
I was finally feeling ok and wanted to spend some time with the boys. They wanted to jump on the trampoline and asked me to join them. Well, I guess I should have said no. It was about 4 minutes after climbing up onto the trampoline that I jumped and landed on my thumb. It was throbbing with pain, but I didn’t think it was serious. That was until I looked down at it and it was about 3x it’s normal size.
It has been about a week and the swelling is down, but it is so bruised! I am starting to be able to move it again - so that is good. I guess Brandon is right when he tells me that I’m too old for this stuff.
